Our Beekeepers volunteer countless hours promoting and educating the general public about bees and beekeeping. This includes going into schools and giving demonstrations, giving programs to local groups and setting up at farmers markets with an observation hive, helping folks “find the queen.” Our largest effort is at the Cleveland County Fair every fall. The beekeepers are housed in a century old log cabin which they have outfitted with two large observation hives and decorated with informational posters, pictures, flyers and beekeeping equipment. There are usually two to three volunteers in the cabin at all times during the fair. The fair typically runs for 11 days.
